I've shot Nikon for many years now, but I'm opposed to the concept of brand loyalty, and so I also shoot an olympus Evolt and a Canon D20. I don't understand why people get so angry - even practically rabid about the idea that another camera having some advantages.
It used to be that the job of the camera was to hold the film flat, and support a decent lens system. But now, the choice of camera implies choice of sensor and D/A converter, which is really a choice analogous to choice of film....and it's nice to have different film for different shoots !
I actually think that a lot of other users feel this way, but over on the other brand forum, well... some don't see it this way at all. To some, brand loyalty is a big deal, analogous to patriotism to a country or religous creed.
I think that real photographers need to stand on the credentials of their images, and not on the fact that they chose the "dominant" camera. I think it's likewise pathetic when photographers sell their soul with brand endorsements, usually for the sake of free equipment or money (referring to the ads with the "seven" photographers). I don't recall the photographic greats of past years engaging in that kind of behavior.
