The latest Nikon market share in Japan according to BCN: Nikon is moving up

The latest 2025 BCN Awards for the Japanese market are out (BCN collects sales data from approximately 2/3 of all Japanese retail stores). Here is the latest Nikon ranking:

Digital cameras SLR

1. Canon 69.4%
2. Nikon 20.9% (was 17.1% before)
3. Ricoh 9.7%

Digital mirrorless single-lens cameras

1. Sony 35.8%
2. Canon 26%
3. Nikon 14.5% (not in the top 3 before)

Here is the market share from previous years – Nikon is #3 for the first time in the mirrorless camera category and has gained over 3% in the DSLR category (click for larger view):

What is BCN AWARD?

“BCN AWARD” is a year (January 1st to December 31st) for each department based on the data collected by BCN, which aggregates the actual sales data of major home electronics mass retailers, computer specialty stores, and online shops nationwide. Sun) This is a system to commend the manufacturer with the highest cumulative number of sales. “BCN AWARD 2022” was decided by totaling the annual sales volume in 2021 for 23 companies / 2643 stores (*) nationwide.
