Two cameras, one color output
Datacolor expert Oliver Mews gives tips on color management. Today: matching 2 cameras with just a few clicks with SpyderCHECK.
Camera color calibration is important for product and fashion photographers for example. Also to reproduce art in a museum requires a neutral color output of the camera equipment. But there is another interesting reason why you should think about it.
You are working with more than just one camera and you mix these images in the end for telling the story of your holiday or a wedding or whatever you report about? It’s normal to end up in a set of images that are not coherent and harmonious with each other.
To match the colors of two or more cameras can easily take hours in post production.
Much easier and far more precise is to create a color setting with SpyderCHECKR(24).
This process is fast and easy.
Just capture the SpyderCHECKR in the appropriate light source with each camera.
Now use the plugin which works with Lightroom and Photoshop’s RAW converter and with Phocus from Hasselblad and create automatically a HSL preset.
All you need to do for matching your cameras is to select the images of the appropriate camera and choose the preset you created.
That’s all. In future you need less than 30 seconds to match the color output in your post production.
